It is 4:30 in the morning and I am listening to Elle cry her eyes out - she is laying half on her bedroom floor and half in the hallway. I have already put her and Ry back to bed countless times, with who knows how many more to come. I first woke up at 3am to the noise of the girls in the family room watching TV, ready to start their day. Ninety minutes later, I am still waiting (patiently) for them to go back to sleep. The only consolation is that it's Saturday, and we have nowhere to be until 4pm this afternoon, so Chris can tend to the girls after he wakes up while I take a nap. The old quote, "When mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" definitely rings true in our home.
Oh, what a rough time we have had. It feels like we have tried everything short of a sleep specialist for these two angels (or is it devils?). It used to be just Ryleigh with the horrible sleeping issues, but about a month ago Elle decided to join in, which helps explain the lack of blog posts. I just finished the chapter on 3-6 years old in the book 'Healthy Sleep Habits - Happy Child'. This book describes our girls to a T. They have both always been a bit hyper/high-strung at times, but we just assumed that was their personalities. However, after reading in this book it seems to be that their daytime behavior could very well be the result of sleep deprivation. I have always known my "bad behavior" over the past six years was from lack of sleep, but it never occurred to me that our girls might suffer from the same affliction. With that in mind, I suddenly have new found hope for both of them after reading this book and praying for the patience to be consistent with them, even when I am up for hours on end in the middle of the night. Oh how I long for the days when my girls can consistently sleep all through the night.
5:45am - It has taken almost three hours, but Ry finally fell asleep awhile ago and was able to stay asleep through all of Elle's screaming. Now, Elle finally caved and is unconscious. The great news is that I was able to stay extremely patient through all of it, and am now somewhat caught up on my posting and "blog-stalking" (Chris's term). Now I'm off to get some sleep of my own...

You poor thing! Way to be consistent, though. That has to be so hard in the wee hours of morning. Just stick with it! My kids are DEVILS if they don't get enough sleep, and kids require A LOT of sleep. All of you will be happier in the long run. You can do it!!!
Hmmm...to have kids, or not to have kids, that is the question! J/K! Although, that really doesn't make me look forward to it very much! :) Hope you are able to get some good sleep while the kids are at school.
Hi Erna. Oh that would be so hard. I hope that you can figure out a solution soon. Best of luck.
Oh and your blog is cute! It was good to see you yesterday.

Oh my goodness, I am a total "blog stalker" myself. I absolutely love it ... consider yourself "blog stalked" by me from now on:-) ha ha - I added you to my list.
I can't believe the girls actually stay up that long! My kids wear themselves out after a few minutes. I hope the book you are reading has some good tips!! You are such a good mom, I am sure you will get it figured out.
Merry Christmas!!
Erna your good, I think I would of lost it in the middle of the night. It is wonderful once you do get them trained.
Softball time is almost here! Hope you're planning on coming.
