Foods Elle is allergic to and MUST avoid.
In order of severity:
*Foods in BOLD are of same severity
All nuts (life threatening) shell fish (life threatening), squash, pork, potatoes, sweet potatoes, casein (protein in milk), *carrots, *celery, *lettuce (iceberg, green leaf, red leaf & romaine), *peas, *soybeans, *strawberries & watermelon. What on earth do I feed this poor child...
I picked up a magazine (Living Without - the magazine for people with food allergies and sensitivities) while at sprouts today. I found this while reading it...
Foods that contain casein
milk
cream
half & half
yogurt
sour cream
cheese
butter
sherbet
white or milk chocolate
ice cream
ice milk
creamed soups and vegetables
soup bases
puddings
custard
whey
Foods that MAY contain casein
margarine
tuna fish
dairy-free cheese (most brands)
cosmetics, medicines
lactic acid
artificial flavorings
semi-sweet chocolate
hot dogs
lunch meats
sausage
I need to find a list like this for soybean/soybean oil/soy protein. I took a look in my pantry and these are the things I found with some form of soy ...
spaghetti sauce
bread crumbs
mayo
stuffing
cereal
canned creamed soup
canned broth based soup
chow mein noodles
multi grain hot cereal
teriyaki sauce
soy sauce
bbq sauce
salad dressing
soybean oil
refried beans
canned meat
liquid smoke flavoring
cake mix
corn meal
graham crackers
ice cream cones
goldfish & annie's cheddar bunnies
I was already stressed having to check all of the foods that contain, may contain or is processed or may be processed with nuts. I think with all the new added allergies, I might die an early death...
So what I am telling you all is... DO NOT FEED MY CHILD!!!
The allergist did say that the foods with less severity may be slowly and carefully re-introduced one at a time (after avoiding all for two weeks). We will then be able to fully determine a food allergy or sensitivity. So we are looking at a minimum of 14 weeks of food testing. In the meantime, we will be doing a lot of praying.
Once again, I am telling you... DO NOT FEED MY CHILD!!!

You poor things! I was stressing for you, just reading the list and thinking, what are they going to feed her? I hope that some of those things will be able to be okay for her, not truely allergic after all the testing is done.
When Raelyn was tested for nuts, she tested positive for nuts, eggs, mesquite trees, and dogs. So far, only the nuts have had any kind of reaction even though she's been exposed to everything else.
I was surprised when they said eggs, because at that time she was having scrambled egg whites for breakfast every day and was just fine. The only thing she did react to was Egg Beaters, which we brought with us when we went camping (small rash around her mouth was all she got).
Good luck. We'll keep you all in our prayers.
Oh Erna, or should I say oh Ellie. That is a horrible list. We're just hoping that there wasn't something in Peoria water because as you know, Katie was conceived there. :) We'll have to now catch up. Oh, did you get the email that supposedly never came through?
Looks like water is the only sure thing. Poor little girl.
